Privacy Policy

B43 makes Unscary AI, an iPhone app that helps you build real, practical AI skills a few minutes at a time. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers the Unscary AI mobile app and our website at b43.ai, together the Services.
We wrote this to be readable. If anything here is unclear, email us at privacy@b43.ai and we will explain it in plain language.
The short version
Here is the whole thing in a few lines. The sections below add the detail.
- We collect what the app needs to work. That means your account email, your learning progress, and your purchases.
- Payments go through Apple. We never see or store your card details.
- Our analytics is tied to a random ID, not your email. It helps us see which lessons work and where people get stuck.
- No ads, no selling, no cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal information, show you advertising, or use an advertising identifier.
- You are in control. You can delete your account, and its data, from inside the app or by emailing us.
Information we collect
We collect the following, and only what we need to run the Services and improve them.
- Account information. When you create an account you sign in with Apple, sign in with Google, or use an email address and password. We collect your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple can hide your real email and give us a private relay address instead, which is fine. From Google sign-in we receive the basic account identifier and email you approve.
- Your learning activity. As you use the app we save your progress: lessons you complete and when, points, your standing on the adoption ladder, your weekly streak, and your answers to the short in-app surveys. This is what lets your progress follow you across devices.
- Purchase information. If you buy the Foundations course or B43 Lifetime, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of what you own so we can unlock it. We do not receive your card number or billing details.
- Usage and device analytics. We collect how the app and site are used: events like starting a lesson or viewing the paywall, screens you view, your app version and build, general device and operating-system type, and which product experiments you are in. In the app this includes a masked session replay, where every text field you type into and every image is hidden before anything is recorded.
- Information you send us on the website. If you reserve a workshop or book a call through b43.ai, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email, and organization, so we can respond and hold your spot.
- Information stored only on your device. The home-screen widget and the optional weekly reminder use a small snapshot of your recent activity that stays on your iPhone and is not sent to us.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the app and website, and save your progress across your devices.
- Process your purchases and restore them when you reinstall or switch devices.
- Understand how the Services are used so we can fix problems, improve lessons, and run product experiments and feature tests.
- Send you optional reminders you have turned on, which are scheduled on your device.
- Keep the Services secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues.
- Respond to you when you contact us or submit a request through the site.
Analytics, session replay, and your choices
Our analytics is designed to tell us what is working, not who you are. In the app, events are tied to a random account identifier rather than your email, and session replay masks every text input and image before it is recorded. On the website, analytics records general page activity to help us improve the site.
You can limit website analytics through your browser's privacy settings. To remove your analytics history along with your account, delete your account or email us at privacy@b43.ai.
Tracking and advertising
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use the device advertising identifier. The app does not show ads. Because of this, the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
How long we keep your information
We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to keep certain records to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. Purchase records held by Apple are governed by Apple's own policies. Analytics data is retained according to our provider's settings and is then aggregated or removed.
Your rights and choices
You have control over your information:
- Access and correction. You can view and update your account details in the app, or ask us for a copy of your data.
- Deletion. You can delete your account and its data at any time, as described below.
- Portability and objection. Depending on where you live, you can ask us to export your data or to stop certain processing.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and the right to object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and correct your information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@b43.ai. We will not treat you differently for using them.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and its data at any time from within the app, or by emailing privacy@b43.ai from the address on your account. Deleting your account removes your profile and learning data from our systems. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and are managed through the App Store.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable measures to protect your information. Data is encrypted in transit, your login tokens are stored in the iPhone's secure Keychain, and access to our systems is limited. No app or online service can be completely secure, so we cannot promise perfect security, but we work to protect your data and to fix issues quickly.
Children's privacy
Unscary AI is made for working adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, email privacy@b43.ai and we will remove it.
Where your information is processed
We operate from the United States, and our service providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. If you use the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your own country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Services change or as the law requires. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and for meaningful changes we will give notice in the app or on the site. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
